Hotel San Cassiano Ca' Favretto on Grand Canal

The four-star Hotel San Cassiano Ca' Favretto, a.k.a. the Residenza d'Epoca San Cassiano, lies directly on the Grand Canal. It even has a waterside terrace where you can enjoy breakfast or drinks in good weather.

The historic building from the 1500s was the residence of a Venetian artist, Giacomo Favretto, in the 19th Century. Today, it has an assortment of guest rooms that range from singles to quads, some with canal views.

The walk from the San Stae waterbus stop is fairly quick, although it does require crossing three small bridges. (The map below may be clearer, or at least simpler, than our detailed step-by-step directions.)

How to reach the San Cassiano Ca' Favretto from Venice Marco Polo Airport:

Hotel San Cassiano Ca' Favretto map

  1. From Venice Marco Polo Airport, take the Alilaguna Linea Arancio (Orange Line) airport boat to San Stae.

  2. As you leave the San Stae waterbus landing, angle across the square in front of you to a bridge that leads to the Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli e Gran Canal.

  3. Cross the bridge and turn right onto the Fondamenta Mocenigo.

  4. Walk to the second corner and turn left into the Calle del Forner.

  5. Keep walking straight ahead and over two bridges. (The street will change names to the Calle del Ravano.)

  6. When you reach the end of the street, turn right into the Calle Regina and quickly turn left again at the next corner.

  7. Walk a short block and turn left into the Calle della Rosa.

  8. The San Cassiano Ca' Favretto is on the right side of the street at no. 2232. (Look for the hanging sign by the courtyard entrance.)
