Hotel Caneva photo

The one-star Hotel Caneva is tucked behind a quiet courtyard in Venice's Castello district, within easy walking distance of the Piazza San Marco, the Rialto Bridge, and Venice's liveliest shopping streets.

The hotel has 23 rooms that range from doubles to quads, some with private facilities and others with shared bathrooms. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.

How to reach Hotel Caneva from the Alilaguna airport-boat pier at San Marco Giardinetti:

Hotel Caneva map directions

  1. As you leave the Alilaguna airport-boat pier, turn right and walk along the waterfront.

  2. When you reach the Piazzetta (the large open area in front of the Doge's Palace), turn left and walk into the Piazza San Marco.

  3. Bear right as you pass the Basilica di San Marco and look for a street named Calle de la Rizza on the north side of the square, beyond the stone lions.

  4. Turn into the Calle de la Rizza, walk to the corner, and continue straight ahead into the Calle Specchieri.

  5. Follow the Calle Specchieri several blocks, past the San Zulian Church. Keep going until you hit a T-crossing with a large hardware store where you have to turn left or right.

  6. Turn right into the Piscina S. Zulian. Continue straight ahead, across a low bridge and past the Acqua Palace Hotel.

  7. On your left, you'll see a covered passage named the Sotoportego Licini. Go through the passage and continue a short distance down the Ramo Licini.

  8. You'll soon see the Hotel Caneva on your left, through an archway labeled "Corte Rubbi."

From the Marittima cruise terminals:

  1. Take the Alilaguna Blue Line airport boat from the cruise basin to the waterbus stop at San Marco Giardinetti.

  2. Follow the directions above.
