Minimize
frustration, save money, and have more fun in Paris by avoiding the most
common traveler's goofs.
Learn about museums, monuments,
sightseeing buses,
Seine river
excursion
boats, cruising on the
Canal St-Martin, the
Île aux Cygnes in the Seine,
inexpensive
balloon
ascents, a dog cemetery with live cats, reaching
Versailles or
Giverny by train, and other
activities. (Two of our favorite spots are the newly renovated
Paris Sewers Museum and the free
Galeries Lafayette
roof terrace.)
Walking is the best--and cheapest--way to explore Paris. But if you've
got limited time or mobility, or if you'd like to go farther afield,
Viator's sightseeing tours and day trips are worth
considering. (Airport
and railroad-station transfers are also available.)
Beauvais (just over an hour from Paris) is more than the site
of
Paris Beauvais-Tillé Airport and a
hub for Ryanair. Beauvais is
also a pleasant city of 55,000 with
one of France's great cathedrals, and it's easy to reach by
train or
airport bus.
